Jodie and Johnny - My 'saviour'

I took the 12:30am Nice++ bus to Singapore on 22Aug and arrived at Copthorne Orchid Hotel (COH), along Dunearn Road about 5:30am. Mind you, better bring along a thick sweater as the air-conditioning in the bus was extremely cold! Probably 20 degrees and there were only 8 passengers, 1 driver and 1 steward.

Anyways, although had bleary-eyes and sleep-deprived body, somehow I managed to clear both Malaysian and Singaporean Immigration and Customs (carrying my luggages!). After a short wait for a taxi at COH, off I went to seek shelter at Jodie (my high school friend) and her hubby's home in Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Crescent. If I remember correct the taxi fare was S$17.60 due to the additional midnight surcharge rate of 50%.

I deeply appreciate Jodie and Johnny's goodwill in offering me a room in her home until I manage to find a place, with my brother. Hope JTC'll release some units in the East side which are near public transportation.

It was just my luck that I blew out the stand fan's motor in my room (in Jodie's home). Gosh, I was only there for less than an hour!! The power tripped and Jodie had to rush out from taking her morning shower (as she was on 8am-5:30pm shift). She showed me where the circuit board was and I turned the power back on. I felt so embarrassed!!!

After we were done freshening up, we went for breakfast at food court near the Yew Tee MRT station (took about 15 minutes walk). Jodie had to leave by 7:15am to catch the MRT to Jurong East (where her office is) while I finish my breakfast and headed towards Raffles Place MRT. The weather was dreary as it was raining/drizzling.

After a 40-minute MRT ride, I was armed with my foldable brolly and I marched off to my new workplace in SGX Centre 1. It took me approximately 15minutes to trudge my way there (coz it was raining when I was at ground level and I was wearing my boots - wrong choice of footwear). So a rough estimate is that I'd need about an hour from YewTee MRT to office.

By then the time was only 8:15am. I headed back to UOB Plaza 1 to collect documents for me to apply for Employment Pass (EP) from Ministry of Manpower (MOM @ 18 Havelock Rd). Took about half hour to submit application but when I went back in the afternoon to pay and collect, it took about 1hr15min. Although a little long, it was bearable as I had my mobile phone games and newspaper to keep me occupied ;)

Dear friends,
I shall be moving to Singapore either on 30/31Aug as I'll be reporting for duty on 03Sep. Remember to keep in touch through emails, etc. ok?
