Dinner@Hideki; Dessert@Bakerzin

My last farewell dinner (I hope-20070829)....Thanks to Jeisry for organising but was unable to attend due to medical reasons :( The FFK Queen, Ms Jasmine Leong yet again, did not manage to grace the event due to heavy workload.

Those present @ Hideki were Jennifer, Han Nee, Gaik Leng and Sharon Soo (somehow didn't manage to take a photo of Sharon...sorry)...

Left Pic: Jenn the poser...pretty/ cute?
Right pic: GL and I (long, long time ago, we used to share a 368-PC in HLB-IAD)

After we finished main course in Hideki, Arlene called to inform that she's just leaving her office in Bkt Jalil. Since the 5 of us had finished dinner, we decided to adjourn to Delicious @ Bangsar Village instead. There was a queue so we moved up to Bakerzin:-

New hair style

Hi there :)

I decided to get a new 'look' and went hunting for a hair salon with Anna around Bandar Puteri Puchong. Shockingly, we could not see many hair salon's in the area...We walked into Summer Hair & Beauty Salon (located behind Restoran Seri Melur, same row as Easypha-max office) as it was one of the better looking ones. I had a wash & cut for RM35 while Anna had a wash & blow for RM16.
To me, i think it was reasonably priced. Below's how I look like now:-

However, Fanny (the hair stylist-cum-owner) suggested that I straighten/rebond my hair as it'll be easier to handle and require less time to get it into shape. Since it's almost fuss-free, I told her I'll be back after lunch as I had appointment (that cancelled last minute) in KL.

After lunch I dutifuly returned and sat there for a 3 hours sitting (from 2:10pm to 5:10pm) to straighten and a treatment session for my new hairstyle.

Cool ear covers (for safety purposes, in case it get caught by scissors or any other devices):-

Wanna know what I look like after? Wait for my next blog entry :)

Jodie and Johnny - My 'saviour'

I took the 12:30am Nice++ bus to Singapore on 22Aug and arrived at Copthorne Orchid Hotel (COH), along Dunearn Road about 5:30am. Mind you, better bring along a thick sweater as the air-conditioning in the bus was extremely cold! Probably 20 degrees and there were only 8 passengers, 1 driver and 1 steward.

Anyways, although had bleary-eyes and sleep-deprived body, somehow I managed to clear both Malaysian and Singaporean Immigration and Customs (carrying my luggages!). After a short wait for a taxi at COH, off I went to seek shelter at Jodie (my high school friend) and her hubby's home in Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Crescent. If I remember correct the taxi fare was S$17.60 due to the additional midnight surcharge rate of 50%.

I deeply appreciate Jodie and Johnny's goodwill in offering me a room in her home until I manage to find a place, with my brother. Hope JTC'll release some units in the East side which are near public transportation.

It was just my luck that I blew out the stand fan's motor in my room (in Jodie's home). Gosh, I was only there for less than an hour!! The power tripped and Jodie had to rush out from taking her morning shower (as she was on 8am-5:30pm shift). She showed me where the circuit board was and I turned the power back on. I felt so embarrassed!!!

After we were done freshening up, we went for breakfast at food court near the Yew Tee MRT station (took about 15 minutes walk). Jodie had to leave by 7:15am to catch the MRT to Jurong East (where her office is) while I finish my breakfast and headed towards Raffles Place MRT. The weather was dreary as it was raining/drizzling.

After a 40-minute MRT ride, I was armed with my foldable brolly and I marched off to my new workplace in SGX Centre 1. It took me approximately 15minutes to trudge my way there (coz it was raining when I was at ground level and I was wearing my boots - wrong choice of footwear). So a rough estimate is that I'd need about an hour from YewTee MRT to office.

By then the time was only 8:15am. I headed back to UOB Plaza 1 to collect documents for me to apply for Employment Pass (EP) from Ministry of Manpower (MOM @ 18 Havelock Rd). Took about half hour to submit application but when I went back in the afternoon to pay and collect, it took about 1hr15min. Although a little long, it was bearable as I had my mobile phone games and newspaper to keep me occupied ;)

Dear friends,
I shall be moving to Singapore either on 30/31Aug as I'll be reporting for duty on 03Sep. Remember to keep in touch through emails, etc. ok?

Hi there

If you are one of my ardent fans like my dear friend, Shew who has been keeping up on what's going on with me through my blog... Please bear with the delay as I've been busy. I've yet to complete my Hanoi trip which was in Jul'07. Arrgh!!!

What have I been up to, you may ask? ;)
Well, trying to make as much time as possible for yum cha, lunch and dinner with family and friends as I'll be relocating to Singapore soon. Another dear friend, Jodie has graciously offered for me to stay with her and her hubby in Yew Tee (checked that it'll be about 14 stops away from Raffles Place MRT). Might just take up on her offer since I'll probably be able to get an unfurnished unit since I qualify under SHiFT from JTC Corporation (http://www.jtc.gov.sg/products/readybuilt/housing/apt/pages/apartforrent.aspx) in Oct'07.

FYI, my last working day in HLB-IAD shall be on 21 August 2007 (i tendered on 30Jul and after deducted 6 days' of annual leave). I've been back 1year, 2months & 15days (i joined HLB on 14Jul2006). My life history with HLB dates back to after graduation in 2000, it's my 1st and 3rd working experience :D

Anyways, being a returnee (ala the 4400) has taught me not to broadcast that I'm leaving yet again. Therefore only the few that I've been in touch with has been notified and hopefully keep in touch. My thought of leaving home is "OMG, how am I supposed clear, pack, throw, etc. all my stuff!"

I'll leave you to think about that...heehee...gonna start clearing things bit by bit (FYI, I've been procrastinating thus far! yup, naughty me...haih...)

20070718 Dinner @ Restaurant Bobby Chinn + Pho24

It's dinnertime... Pixie and I decided to treat Trixy to a sumptious dinner @ Restaurant Bobby Chinn (http://www.bobbychinn.com/). Located just below the Hanoi Tourism Office along Ba Trieu Street, facing Hoan Kiem Lake...the ambience was pretty intimate.
However the 5 of us was commenting that it was too dark to see our food!!!

To do me justice, check out (http://www.bobbychinn.com/en/ambience.htm) and that's the kind of lighting that we had. I guess that we'd have appreciated it more if it was a meal with that special someone.

Below are the photos taken at RBC:-

Cheeky menus...

Left: LiLi and Trixy Right: Jo and Pixie

HanSan, sorry...I think we've neglected to take a photo of you in RBC

Trixy and all the drinks (sexy, orgasmic, etc.) :P

Our mouth watering appetisers (photos above) and respective main courses, the following 4 photos (LiLi and Trix ordered the same thing - all appetisers in 1 main meal):-

We thought dessert in RBC would be an experience to remember but it was pretty sad. Of the 4 that we ordered, only 2 were worth mentioning...

Middle pic - Chocolate Pot de Creme

Right pic - Lemon Scented Creme Brulee

-----------------------------------------------------------

Left pic - Chocolate Pudding (not as wonderful as in AlFresco) and Coconut Rice Pudding (it's just nicely decorated nasi pulut)

HanSan was craving for Pho, so Trixy suggested Pho24 (a chain of Pho restaurant all over Vietnam, with branches overseas too). Please check out http://www.pho24.com.vn/

Although we were kind of full to the brim, we also ordered a glass of Avocado Milk Shake :)

Tomorrow's our final day/night in Hanoi. Hope we can last the pace of traipsing around the sighseeing sites in the city...to be continued...

Beautiful morning on the bay

The 7 photos below were taken early in the morning, about 5:30am. I managed to crawl (seriously!) out of my bed and out the window (coz Pixie was holding on to my room key). Any one of the below qualify for a National Geographic-typed photos? Pray, do tell :)

The room HanSan and I shared.

There's an air-cond unit in the room BUT we could not turn it on (probably the boat operator did not turn the main switch on)....haih...well, at least we had our individual fans located over the bed's headboard to keep cool. Just beware of the creepy crawlies, as in cockroaches all over. I'm personally afraid of the flying ones.

Sweaty me, even after a cold shower. All of us opted for kayaking, thus the boat stopped at a kayak operator's floating home. Sorry no pics there as I was afraid of getting my camera wet. The sweaty me pic was taken after receiving call from HR personnel of my new employer. Took a while before the news sank in! Then I called home to my Mom (told her to inform my Dad & older brother) and younger brother in Singapore to break the good news ;)

Halong Bay, here we come!

At Halong Bay...Various photos from HanSan's pocket dynamo camera Casio Exilim and my Sony Cybershot (I shall try to do a short write up later, please enjoy the photos til then ok? TQVM):-

View of the Bay after coming out from Thien Cung Cave. By looking at a sweaty Jo, it's obvious that the heat was bordering intolerable. However we marched on to the next cave....

Next, Dau Go Cave

Not so yummy dinner time....but what the heck, we're famished!!!
