Tiring fitting, then dinner

We were still tired although have rested so Trix suggested that I cycle and she take the 'xe om' (motorbike for hire). The 'xe om' lady kindly supplied a towel to pad the seat at the back of the bicycle for an easier ride back for Trix.

First we headed towards A Dong Silk, then to fill our tummies with Vietnamese food by the riverside:

Then we went to the nearby market to buy some longan and an orange for dessert back by the riverside in Vinh Hung Resort. After having fruits, we called it a night as we were going for guided tour of My Son followed by lunch and walking tour of Hoi An town the next day.

Hunt for A Dong Silk @ 40 Le Loi St, Hoi An

Walk around town took us pass a few shops selling matching tie, cufflinks and hanky in a box. Trixy and I walked into one and walked out with 3 boxes each! I think the average price was USD5/box set.



Then we were off to 40 Le Loi St to look for A Dong Silk (http://www.adongsilk.com/) for personal tailoring. I didn't know what to expect but Trix said it's a must do thing...sadly we didn't take any photos of the shop but we had 2 salesladies named Lan Anh and Minh.



We spent about 2 hours there (11:30am-1:30pm), selecting what design we respectively wanted, type of cloth, style and ended with the salesladies taking our measurement. I commissioned a pantsuit (with additional pants), 2 shirts with cufflinks, a pair of black stretch jeans and a pair of dark blue capri jeans.



Won't tell u how much we respectively 'invested' that day in A Dong Silk, but I'll reveal that I'm very happy with my USD35 pair of tailored jeans (embroidered my middle name on the right back pocket). We had to each place a USD100 deposit and were informed to return later in the evening for the first fitting.



After all the excitement, it was time to fill our tummies :D

Trix asked one of the salesladies for direct to nice meal nearby....we were directed to Before & Now restaurant. I found the restroom unique...FYI, most toilets in Vietnam are clean & ammonia-free.



We had spaghetti Aglio e Olio and fried rice, with icy cold lime juicy to cool us down and quench our thirst from our earlier strenuous activities :P




After lunch, we took a 15minutes walked back to Vinh Hung Resort to clean up and have a short nap before going to town again.

Breakfast in Hoi An

After arrival and checking into Vinh Hung Resort, Trixy and I were graciously dropped off at a makan place in town by the van driver who picked us from the Danang Airport.

The place has pics/plaques of previous floods that hit Hoi An.

I think we had fried noodles, cao lau (local speciality-kinda tasteless thick mee) and white rose (something like wan tan but also kind tasteless).

After makan the van driver dropped us off at a silk factory (embroidery, lantern, clothes, etc.)

The above is the only shot I took at the silk factory, which shows the silkworms.

After a no-obligations short briefing by the staff there, we went out to soak in the sights and sounds of the town.
